Final post

So, I have network connectivity. All pictures collected
(send me email if you want a DVD of everything). Final update.

We arrived at Berlin, stopped at Berlin Elementary got our
green shirts (that's the in color this year, Choral Camp, etc.)
and rode to the conference site escorted by Berlin's finest
(hey, traffic is usually slow in Berlin due to a two lane
road clogged by tourists, so what's the big deal if we
clog it for a good cause with Bikes for a few minutes :-).

Final story: as we were riding the last day or so, we came
past a house that had a faded plastic Santa Clause in the back
corner of the yard, Dan saw it and yelled "Santa"...just
as an old man with a white beard came out of a barn
directly in his line of vision...Dan got a strange look
and a wave...

We a BBQ at the home of Tom Miller (thanks).

Talk next year is of a 400 mile 5 day ride starting in
Indiana and ending in Kalona, IA (that's all the way across
Indiana for those who are map challenged).

Now, on to conference....

Nathan B from Michigan blew a tire yesterday.
They went to "The Bike Shop" in Findlay.
When they called him he opened a hour early just for the repair.they were talking, and this man being a Christian shared that he has a heart for missions also.He also talked about how they were flooded out a year ago, and how God has just blessed him so much since that time. When the repair was done, he gave it for nothing!! and he also gave money to support the mission fund raising.that was clearly a God sighting and a encouragement for us, and him.So if you are ever in Findly and need a bike shop, stop and support his shop!! Today, in a little more detail

It's hard to ride, be exhausted, lost, and blog in the same day.

So, as noted the first 40 + 20 mile segments went well
(except for Wayne).

Most of the group missed a turn and wound up going 2 miles
to far south, cutting over and back up. I love roads
that are layed out on mile sections

The rest of the ride was somewhat more difficult (for me
at least). I was nearly passed out at the last snack
break (1st time). I had energy to keep riding, but not
enough to hang with most of the crew, so I plodded
along at my own pace.

The SAG Wagon had bought paint and were marking the turns
for us. First in yellow...until the one marked in
both yellow and orange that said "new color" and then
finally the one in orange that said "out of paint".

Oh, signs seen along the way, a church with a board that
said "board broken, come inside for message" and
one town that had a sign "no peddling"...umm...

Anyhow, after the out of paint sign, since I was alone
and had a GPS, I called the hotel, got their address
(or so I tought), punched it in, got directions
to a place 9 miles away that would have ended my
day at 101 miles. Perfect. I road it, only to
discover I was 7 miles the wrong side of Ashland.
So, I rode into Ashland and then the 4 miles or so
to the hotel (after I figured out how to set the
GPS to aim at the right place). Technology.
Who needs it :-\ I wound up with 110 miles
for my first "century" in something like 25 years.

A large bunch of us went to Bob Evans. There are times
you don't feel guilty about pigging out. This is one
of them. The watress had probably never brought more
water or had such a large order of starch heavy food
by (her own comment) such a nice group of customers.

People from the south tried Mush (I was not aware that
it was a northern thing ???).

There is aparently a group over at Wendys now playing
Dutch Blitz. I don't know about them, but I'm thinking
bed thoughts at 9 after a day like today.

In

100+ miles.

Wayne has had 7 flats for the trip.

Do you know what's in your church basement ?

This monumental creature was found in the basement at Sunrise Chapel on the first night's layover.
